Reading graphs and chance
A graph only means something once you know its key or scale, so read that before counting anything.
A worked example
If one symbol stands for 9 cars and a row shows 7 symbols, that row is 7 x 9 = 63 cars, not 7.
The mistake people actually make
Counting the symbols themselves gives the wrong total whenever one symbol stands for more than one thing.
