Rearranging a formula
Whatever you do to one side, do to the other, until the letter you want is alone.
A worked example
Make a the subject of F = ma. Divide both sides by m: F/m = a. So a = F/m.
The mistake people actually make
Undo operations in reverse order. If something is added last, subtract it first.
